Orange 94.0 ist Wiens erstes und einziges Freies Radio. Werbefrei, offen und manchmal sehr schräg - das ist zu hören, wenn rund 500 ehrenamtliche MitarbeiterInnen Radio machen. Rund um die Uhr, in Wort und Musik. Orange 94.0 ist ein nichtkommerzielles Privatradio, das auf eine lange Geschichte zurückblickt.

Formal ist das Projekt in zwei Vereinen orangisiert. Seit 17. August 1998 sind wir auf Sendung.

Unsere Frequenz: UKW 94.0 MHz. Auf UKW 92.7 sind wir auch im Netz der Telekabel Wien zu hören.

Das Freie Radio versteht sich als alternatives Medienprojekt, das seine Artikulationen nicht nur auf Ultrakurzwellen beschränkt. In diesem Sinne geben wir auch eine Programmzeitung heraus, und in diesem Sinne wurde auch diese Homepage gestaltet. Zu finden gibt es hier neben obligatorischen Infos auch ein spezielles Feature, und eine Abteilung zum Mitreden, sowie ausführliche Infos zu den diversen Sendungen.

Orange 94.0 is one of the 11 broadcasting free radios in Austria. Emerging out of the pirate radio scene in opposition to the state?s broadcasting monopoly in the late 80s/early 90s community radios have been established in Austria since 1997. Based on the idea of freedom of expression, open access to media and a pluralistic structure of the media landscape Orange 94.0 has been working on the implementation and daily running of a community radio for Vienna over the last six years.

About 500 people from various backgrounds produce around 200 different radio shows within the programme schedule of Orange 94.0. The radio programmes cover a broad spectrum of different issues such as cultural, social, environmental, economical and political issues as well as music, experimental and talk programmes. As community radio focuses on the involvement of groups, issues and opinions that are usually underrepresented in mainstream media the target groups are young people, women and lesbians, elderly people, migrants, homeless people etc. An important task is to provide different migrant communities with programmes in their mother tongue. Currently Orange 94.0 is broadcasting in about 10 different languages.
